Bobbi Kittner

My art explores cultural, identity, and environmental themes. I share my connection with the world and the significance of a place, an object or a memory through my work. As a mixed media artist I’m constantly combining, paint, paper and various mediums to create my work. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my approach is consistently focused on constructing a narrative. I create visual quilts of my everyday life focusing on my relationship to my garden, my Takoma community and my family.

My abstract collage as well as my painted narratives build from my personal story. I think of my work as a way to make visible what is often overlooked, giving power and significance to color, texture and the random elements incorporated. I focus on creating a dialogue with my work and the viewer.
